Click above for a short obituary on the sadly missed Peter Christopherson. Cosey Fanni Tutti speaks a little about the reactions that Throbbing Gristle were trying to provoke, it’s worth a listen just to remember what an amazing group they were, Persuasion, Discipline, Slug Bait, Very Friendly still send shivers down my spine.

David Keenan’s “Englands Hidden Reverse” was a fascinating history of Coil, Nurse with Wound and Current 93 – it also came with a cd with pieces from all the above. (Just checked amazon and 2nd hand copies are going for £150 – £350 🙂

Also worth seeking out is “Wreckers of Civilisation” by Simon Ford (a much more affordable £16.96) which charts the evolution of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV and the emergence of industrial and noise music. Highly recommended.

ATP / Peter Christopherson

Just got back from the ATP weekend curated by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Not suprisingly I had a great time, despite being billetted in a rather grotty, run down part of the site. Not so much a festival site, it was more like an abandoned Soviet labour camp.
I was looking forward to see Throbbing Gristle, an all time favourite group of mine. Unfortunately a few weeks ago Genesis announced he was no longer touring but it looked like they would still play under the moniker of X-TG. Even sadder news was Peter Christopherson passing away in his sleep last week. Needless to say the show did not go ahead. Instead the organizers played Throbbing Gristle tracks on the Pavillion PA at the time slot they would have played. It was sad to hear their music whilst the stage remained empty and unlit.

X-TG :(

Genesis P. Orridge has pulled out of the current Throbbing Gristle tour. They may still play, minus Gen…
